Biography Adam Lee grew up in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Shortly thereafter he moved to San Francisco, California, where he began work on several short independent films, as well as doing painting and drawing. After four years in California, Adam returned to New England to focus on his art career. In 2004, Adam became a founding member of the performance art project, project math-y (with Sarah Ulrich), in New York, New York, where the duo were active for two years. After the duo's time in New York, the pair returned to San Francisco, where they married in 2009 and began work on a series of large-scale wall-sized works. In 2010, Adam co-founded and began work on a non-profit organization, project math-y, and in 2011 he was named one of "Artists to Watch" by Art F City. Project math-y works as an installation art project, most notably in the form of series of wall-sized paintings, that examine the "complexities of our technology-driven world" through a holistic conceptual lens. The installations often reference popular science-fiction and feature common tools from everyday life such as toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and coffee. One of project math-y's most famous works, Brain Meets Lawn (2012), was commissioned by the Whitney Museum in New York. The work is an "unfinished painting on 11' by 13' post-consumer cloth painting paper, which includes the power of the human brain, compost, sunlight, and the growth of grass in a landscape of its own." The painting was on display at the Whitney Museum as part of its "If Walls Could Talk" exhibition. In 2013, Project math-y released the album, Rooms.
