This year has changed our perspectives and refocused our priorities. Mental health and well-being was something that mattered after a longtime for a change. We spent more time with our loved ones or just with ourselves. In between all this, we learnt to be grateful and to appreciate what we have.
As the year ends and as we transition into a new year, here are some books that you'd enjoy that will allow you to have a mellow gradation and happy dopamine filled mind this Christmas.
Book 1
All the Colors of Christmas Hardcover – September 8, 2020 by Matthew Paul Turner
The bestselling author of When God Made You and When I Pray for You captures the wonder of Christmas and the joy of Jesus' birth in a lyrical exploration of what makes the season so colorful, magical, and personal.
In his trademark style, Matthew Paul Turner celebrates the Christmas season, particularly the colors that infuse the holiday and all the memorable sensations and experiences—including a festive market, sledding, and nativity scene—connected to those bright hues. Matthew draws his readers into a whirling ribbon of the familiar reds and greens of Christmas, as well as other festive hues, including white, gold, blue, and brown.
Christmas is RED.
It's a bright shiny sled.
It's candy canes,
and toy store lanes.
It's sprinkles on sweet bread.
Christmas is BROWN
It’s pinecones scattered round…
It’s a cradle soft with hay
And a donkey’s gentle bray.
It’s God within
a baby’s skin
on that very first Christmas Day.
All the colors come together when readers are reminded that Christmas is YOU—you’re a part of the story, the joy and the glory! Matthew shows us again and again that the holidays are nothing without being with the people we love, celebrating treasured traditions, and making new memories—all in vivid color.
Book 2
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss
This classic Session tale tells the story of the disgruntled Grinch and his fiendish attempts to steal Christmas from the citizens of Who-ville. As the second step in a major rebrand programme, HarperCollins is relaunching 10 more hilarious Dr. Seuss books, including such all-time favourites as How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? And Dr. Seuss' Sleep Book. In response to consumer demand, the bright new cover designs incorporate much needed guidance on reading levels, with standard paperbacks divided into three reading strands – Blue Back Books for parents to share with young children, Green Back Books for budding readers to tackle on their own, and Yellow Back Books for older, more fluent readers to enjoy. How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Belongs to the Yellow Back Book range. It has also been adapted for the big screen, and is now a block buster movie starring the irrepressible Jim Carrey.
Book 3
The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
'Tis the season for finding romance in this hilarious and uplifting holiday read.
When it comes to relationships, thirty-four-year-old Kate Turner is ready to say "Bah, humbug." The sleepy town of Blexford, England, isn't exactly brimming with prospects, and anyway, Kate's found fulfillment in her career as a designer, and in her delicious side job baking for her old friend Matt's neighborhood café. But then her best friend signs her up for a dating agency that promises to help singles find love before the holidays. Twenty-three days until Christmas. Twelve dates with twelve different men. The odds must finally be in her favor . . . right?
Yet with each new date more disastrous than the one before--and the whole town keeping tabs on her misadventures--Kate must remind herself that sometimes love, like mistletoe, shows up where it's least expected. And maybe, just maybe, it's been right under her nose all along. . . .
Book 4
In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.
But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy.
The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awake…she’s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loop—and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.
Yes, yess. A lot of them are cliche stories but I just need a feel-good book right now and here's what you need too!
