Book Intro by James Clear:

No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving - every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.

If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.

Clear is known for his ability to distill complex topics into simple behaviors that can be easily applied to daily life and work. Here, he draws on the most proven ideas from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to create an easy-to-understand guide for making good habits inevitable and bad habits impossible. Along the way, listeners will be inspired and entertained with true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business leaders, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field.

Learn how to:

  • Make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy)

  • Overcome a lack of motivation and willpower

  • Design your environment to make success easier

  • Get back on track when you fall off course

  • And much more

Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits - whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.

Review:

I'm not the one to pick up self help books and usually looked down on them thinking how someone else can tell me what to do. But just realizing the amount of time and research that has gone into this book and the good intentions paired with it, I have learnt to look at these books in a new light. Far be it for me to judge them, having picked up a few such books and having noticed the changes and impact that they have had on them, i believe that they must reach more and more people.

Atomic habits has been one of my favorite listens to on an audiobook. This is such a great book and so insightful. Honestly, you might know a few things there but just having it repeated to you out loud makes a huge difference. There is some hacks that James uses that’s so mind-blowingly convenient and useful, you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it before. So many things that you have not consciously thought of and just the concept around having a cue and flowing with it. Several templates and framework to get started. Just picking up a small section and beginning with it is more than enough to get going and be on the right path to be honest.

The reason it’s such a good book is because it uses research to explain how habits are formed and changed. Everyone knows someone who was out of shape, or was a smoker, and then in what appeared as if almost overnight, changed themselves. While most would think that it’s motivation and will power, James explains how this is so much beyond that with the power of positive compounding. Do something enough number of times and it becomes a habit, good or bad. Just by making it a muscle memory and taking those small steps. His explanation of the habit loop, the way we can make the effort easy, having to separate the section of the house for different activities. I was really fascinated in how the book depicted changing a habit. Let’s face it, we all have habits we want to change and this book shows us how. James illustrates some of these concepts and so much more in detail that is so simple to apply and just revisiting this book a few times will keep you in the zone.

If you don’t have the time to go through the entire book, just visit www.atomichabits.com and browse through the templates. The book flows nicelyand uses research and examples multiple times to substantiate the concepts and make the listener understand well.

I honestly feel that I will not be doing justice to the book that it is with this review. But can assure that anyone who picks it up will not be disappointed.

Speaking about the app Libro.fm, just want to say how convenient the whole listening experience has been with having the option to book mark to revisit some sections and the smoothness and user friendliness of the whole UI, just impeccable.
