Synopsis by Dipa Sanatani:
The Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu - Celestial Beings from world mythology - bicker and squabble, just like any family. But they’re going to have to put their differences aside to help the Little Light - a wise soul, imbued with insight and curiosity - prepare for its birth on Planet Earth, where it has a great and far-reaching destiny...
“A part of the Sun will always shine inside the Little Light, come what may. Life can be full of pain, suffering and strife, but this spark will always remain untouched because it belongs to the source of all life on earth. Nothing and no one can take it away because it is a gift from the father to all his children. It can never be tarnished or spoil. It exists and will continue to burn bright till the death of the physical body.”
My Review:
A surprisingly astrological look at the cosmic realm, the concept of the novel is pretty advanced and yet understandable in this book "The Little Light". It takes a minute or two to gain perspective of what the Little Light exactly is in the beginning and the story starts to form and grow from there into a vivid and spectacular abstract. The book does not consist of several different events happening at a variety of places, but at the cosmic womb or a mother's womb. The entire story consists of the influence of various planets and the sun and the moon has over being. From the subject of what kind of effect each of these planets have on a being before creation and birth into the real world is portrayed and speculated from the point of view of a dysfunctional planetary family. Throughout the book there is a large astrological relation alongside cosmic presence and I personally believe that astrologers or understand this concept better will thoroughly enjoy this particular story. There is a unique revelation about the "Little Light" that just adds a little extra edge to the direction. The book covers everything from planets, spirit animals, karmas and dharmas to past lives.
The line - "No soul ever grows into its full majesty if it is pampered from the very hardships it needs to grow. No child, no matter how loved, can remain in its mother’s arms forever"- especially resonated with me.
Dipa's Indian influence can be clearly seen in her writing and her research and conceptualization is much appreciated. Extensively studied, charmingly written, this book is filled with simple but majestic. The in-detailed impact of each planets and the sun and the star and the eclipse is explained very well and somehow even edges to provide an insight of human psychology.
This book is not everyone cup of tea, especially those who do not believe that the planetary influence has an impact on human behavior or that people use astrological signs as an excuse for their actions. Although, these do not dictate every single step that a person takes and every decision is based of a certain planet, maybe a small part of it does impact human beings.
Overall, if someone is considering to explore astrological and cosmic influences or intent to begin studying this path , this is a good place to start. It is simple to understand and will act as a good base to think in that direction.
This book wasn't what I thought it was going to be, and I definitely enjoyed it!
